Description

Toh features straight, cylindrical cups connected in a single line to beautifully display the flow of water on rainy days. This simple vertical line blends quietly with your building’s appearance, acting as a modest accent on sunny days.

When it rains, water falls freely from cup to cup, creating a continuous, natural movement that draws the eye. Rather than using special effects, the design allows the rain to fall in its natural state, becoming a part of your home’s expression. It is simple, yet it makes the time spent listening to the rain feel calm.

By combining tubes of three different lengths, we create a gentle rhythm within the straight design, allowing it to fit naturally with modern walls and windows. The spacing between the tubes is designed to ensure the water flows in an unbroken, continuous line. The Silver finish highlights the natural tone of the stainless steel. A soft hairline texture gently catches the light and the movement of the rain, creating a calm impression that matches any wall or roof color.

Based on traditional Japanese kusari-toi (rain chains), Toh rethinks how water is caught and released, resulting in a cleaner, simpler shape. It is a modern rain chain that manages rainwater while blending into the scenery as a piece of architectural art.

Toh / Toh-L (Cylindrical)

This design uses straight cylinders to create a sharp look. Three lengths of tube—long, medium, and short—connect in a random pattern. This creates a rhythm that matches the flow of rain and light.

  • Impression: Sharp, Modern, Architectural
  • Best For: Linear exteriors, metal buildings, and minimal homes.

Rain Chains Crafted from Stainless Steel (SUS304)

The stainless steel used in authentic Seo Rain Chain designs is known as SUS304, or 18-8 Stainless. This is an alloy of iron mixed with 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Chromium creates a protective layer that prevents rust, while nickel adds toughness. This gives the metal flexibility and ensures it resists cracking, providing long-term stability outdoors.

You likely see SUS304 often in daily life. It is used in water-related products like kitchen sinks, pots, and silverware. Because it resists rust, stays clean, and keeps a beautiful shine, it is perfect for rain chains exposed to rain, humidity, and sunlight.

At Seo Rain Chain, we apply a hairline finish to soften the reflection and highlight the metal’s texture. We also add a ceramic-based clear coating. This enhances resistance to weather and moisture, protecting the chain from UV rays. This preserves the metal’s natural beauty while ensuring a durable finish for years of worry-free use.

Silver

This finish keeps the natural look of stainless steel. It feels light and modern, and it fits many styles of architecture. It also holds its shine well outdoors. Compared with an aluminum rain chain, it can feel a bit more solid, which pairs nicely with modern exteriors.

Support

Can I install the rain chain myself?

Working at heights on a roof can be dangerous, so we recommend hiring a professional roofer. However, some models are easier to install if you feel comfortable doing so yourself.

Please review our How To Install page to decide. If you are replacing a pipe downspout, you will need to remove or cut the pipe, so we recommend a professional for that task.

When will my order arrive?

If your item is in stock, we typically assemble and ship it within one week. (Hamon models may take up to three weeks). Once shipped, we will send you a tracking number so you can see exactly when it will arrive.
Note: If an item is out of stock, we handcraft it to order, which takes 3 to 4 months. Please order early if you have a specific deadline.

Can I adjust the length of the chain?

Yes, we can make the chain to your desired length. Lengthening it yourself is difficult and may cause it to detach, so we suggest ordering a slightly longer chain and cutting it on-site.

If you are unsure about the length (especially when converting from feet), please contact us for advice.

To learn more about extending chains, see:
Connecting Method for Extending Toh, Ta-ke, and Tama.

Please note that the price changes based on length.

What is the drainage capacity?
