Takaoka, Japan, is one of the country's most respected centers for metal craftsmanship. The tradition dates back over 400 years, to the early Edo period, when the local feudal lord encouraged the art of metal casting. Since then, generations of artisans here have shaped Buddhist altar fittings, bronze statues, flower vases, and more.

Takaoka is more than an industrial city. It is a place where people have worked with metal and refined their skills for centuries. Seo Inc. draws on this deep heritage of craft and technique, carrying it forward through the art of rain chain making.

Founded in 1938 — A Legacy of Continuous Craft

Seo Inc. was founded in 1938. Over the decades, we honed core metalworking skills — bending, welding, and forming — while crafting everything from farming tools and cookware to Buddhist statue components. In the 1960s, we began making rain chains, and we have continued for more than half a century. Our deep foundation in metalworking, built across many products and many years, is what shapes the quality of every rain chain we make today.

Quality You Cannot See — But Always Feel

At Seo Inc., we believe the details that matter most are often the ones you never see. Internal joints and hidden structures receive the same care as every visible surface, because they are what give a rain chain its strength and lasting durability.

Stainless steel is one of the hardest metals to shape. Our ability to work with it comes from decades of hands-on experience. It is this dedication — step by step, piece by piece — that makes our rain chains worthy of a lifetime of use.

Fourth Generation, Global Reach

Today, Seo Inc. is led by its fourth-generation president. Since 1938, each generation has carried forward the skills and values that define our company — a tradition that speaks to both stability and trust. Our standards for craft and quality hold steady, no matter how the world around us changes.

Building on this strong foundation, the fourth generation is looking beyond Japan. He travels to the United States to study local architecture and markets firsthand, working to share the beauty and value of rain chains with homeowners around the world.

Honoring the past while reaching forward — that is the spirit that drives Seo Inc. today.
