How water travels inside the drain pipe

When rain chains are used for drainage on a flat rooftop or balcony, water flowing through the pipes in the slab will run down along the inside walls of the pipes.

Therefore, if installed as the figure below, rainwater will not flow to the rain chain if the inside diameter of the pipe is larger than the bore (inside diameter) of the rain chain.

The water won’t travel down to the rain chain, it will just spill out.

This means that if the inside diameter of the pipe is larger than the bore (inside diameter) of the rain chain, the "water collector" that is included with our rain chain package is required to guide rainwater inside the rain chain.

When using a drainpipe, either of the following methods can be used.

• Use a custom-made water collector with an extended end on the drain.
• Use a drainpipe connection fitting + water collector
