For many homes in our time, exterior items that combine beauty and functionality are gaining more attention. The traditional Japanese architectural element, the rainwater chain, is especially cherished by many for its unique design and practicality. SEO RAIN CHAIN offers beautiful rainwater chains made from high-quality, durable metals.

The materials used in rainwater chains made by SEO RAIN CHAIN include stainless steel, copper, and brass, all of which are recyclable.

Stainless Steel

The silver-colored stainless steel is attractive for its strength and durability. It is resistant to rust and highly weather-resistant, making it low-maintenance.

Copper

Copper is appreciated for its nuanced reddish-brown color and durability. Over time, it develops a unique patina, becoming even more attractive. Additionally, copper has high corrosion resistance, maintaining its beautiful condition for a long period.

Brass

Brass, with its elegant golden glow, is used in water fixtures, door handles, and furniture components, adding a touch of luxury. It is also highly resistant to corrosion, ensuring long-lasting beauty.

When recycling, the same types of metals are collected and melted at high temperatures to be recycled as ingots, which are then returned to raw materials before used for products. Therefore, the ease of separating the different types of metals makes the recycling process more convenient.

Stainless steel and copper are much more valuable metals than iron, and recycling rates are very high in Japan, with over 80% for both metals.

Additionally, recycling reduces the amount of energy required to produce new materials. For example, producing one ton of stainless steel from entirely new materials emits approximately 10 tons of carbon dioxide, while using 90% recycled materials emits only about 2 tons. This demonstrates that recycling contributes more to carbon neutrality than using new raw materials.

Our rain chains are built with enhanced strength to resist damage, so they won't need to be replaced frequently. However, in case of recycling, we will specify the materials used for each component.

In case of Hammon

We offer both brass and stainless-steel options. The black-colored rain chains are made of brass. The silver ones come in both brass and stainless steel. To distinguish between the materials, you may need to sand the surface and check the color; silver indicates stainless steel, while a brass color indicates brass.

In case of Toh, Ta-ke, Toh-L, and Tama-L

The silver and dark brown rain chains are made entirely of stainless steel. The one shown in the photo is Tama - copper model, but only the outer cover is made of copper; the rod connecting the rain chain pieces and the internal structure are stainless steel. By cutting the rod, you can separate the copper parts from the stainless-steel components.

In case of Ajiro

The main body of the rain chain is made of copper, while the connecting wires are made of a material called Tando-bronze. This metal has a small amount of zinc added to increase hardness and strength. The main body of the rain chain and the wire parts can be disassembled by hand.

In case of Migumo and Migumo-L

The exterior part is made of copper. All other parts are made of stainless steel. The copper and stainless-steel parts can be sorted using tools or by hand.

In case of Amane, Amamichi, Shippo, and metal-made Basin

Amane, Amamichi, and Shippo are all made of brass. They are plated on the surface to improve appearance and corrosion resistance, but the material used is predominantly brass, so they can be recycled as brass. As you can see, the chains and basins offered by SEO RAIN CHAIN are designed to be easily sorted by their respective materials, making them easy to recycle.

Please choose the rain chains that best match your home or building from copper, stainless steel, or brass. After enjoying them for a long time, if they eventually reach the end of their lifespan, we kindly ask that you recycle them through the resource cycling process. The metal used in the rain chains shall be transformed into new products, continuing to be passed on to the next generation.

Amamichi

€315,00

The Amamichi weighs about 2.86lb and can be connected to any rain chain. For connection to the rain chain, a special metal fitting is included. The back of the anchoring weight is shaped to fit a pipe, making it the ideal weight for when you want to channel rainwater into a drainpipe. (Please check the diameter of your pipe.) By fitting it to a drainpipe, it prevents lateral displacement. Available in two colors: silver and black.
